"What My Culture Means to Me"

WHAT IT IS

Reflections is PTA's National Arts Program recognizing students for their original artwork since 1969.  Students explore their ideas and feelings through art while developing confidence and improving artistic literacy.

Each year brings a new theme to inspire student creativity.  Students of all-ages and abilities are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of the categories.

  • Dance Choreography

  • Literature

  • Photography

  • Film Production

  • Music Composition

  • Visual Arts

grade divisions

  • Primary (TK-Grade 2)

  • Intermediate (Grades 3-5)

  • Accessible Arts (Open for all-ages of students who identify as having an disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA)

Artwork is submitted by the deadline to Roosevelt PTA, recognized, celebrated and scored by grade-level, or the Accessible Arts division.

The entries receiving the highest scores in each category and grade division move on to local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration.

​

The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Outstanding Interpretation, Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit.

how to enter

  1. Create an original work of art in one of the 6 categories.

  2. Submit the art by having an adult document the entry and submit it below. Remember to click "Submit". Videos, Audio Recordings and Photographs taken via cellphone are great ways to upload your entry!

  3. Bring your original work of art to school, and put it in a collection bin “Roosevelt Reflections.” It will be returned to you once the gallery show is over.

  4. Come to the Reflections Gala and Gallery Show this November to party and check out all the other Reflections Entries!
